FAQs

Studies have proven that timely conflict resolution and progress focused efforts by separating parents is beneficial for children. Our OKF caseworkers are there to guide and support both parents and put in place the necessary support for the children.

The civil process can take a minimum of 26 weeks once the paperwork has been filed. The gett process can be very fast but the speed can depend on a case-by-case basis. However, your OKF caseworkers will be there for you to help guide you through every step of the way.

Yes, OKF believes by working closely with both parents we are able to successfully build bridges and resolve conflict in a more child focused, timely, cost-effective way than through the courts.

Family mediation is also much quicker, less stressful and usually cheaper than heading straight to court.
It enables you to shape long-term solutions that are in your family’s best interests.
The process allows families to keep control of their own destinies, instead of handing it over to the court to decide.
Family mediation can also help in the years following your separation or divorce. The agreements you made when you first separated may no longer work for you as your circumstances change. Family mediation can help you to agree new arrangements that work for your new circumstances.

It’s never too late. We will always do our best to support you. However, we find that the earlier in the divorce process a positive approach is adopted, the more likely it is to succeed.

In the words of Adam ‘Had I only known about OKF earlier in my divorce process, so much money and pain could have been averted’.

Please do not hesitate to call us on 0203 951 8495 or email us info@ourkidsfirst.co.uk and someone will be there at the other end of the phone to listen and offer support and guidance.
